Mark Zuckerberg and Sheryl Sandberg are “incredibly involved” in Facebook’s content moderation issues

Facebook is a platform that intentionally or not but always end up in scandals and we are curious to know whether Mark Zuckerberg and Sheryl Sandberg get involved in any sensitive content moderation policy at Facebook or not?

According to Yahoo Finance, the involvement from these people is important because Facebook has always been surrounded by controversies of antitrust violations, freedom of speech, data security breach and the involvement from the company’s Top executives display the kind of response these platforms show towards criticism.

Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and Messenger have nearly 2.4 billion users from all over the world and the executives attempt to reduce these issues on these networks by being more responsible about it.

According to the report, usually a team of executives will process on sensitive content issues according to the policies but when the team fails to process it according to the policies they end up contacting Mark and Sandberg to involve in the process. Every time an issue arises and when there’s nothing left for the team to do and the issue is particularly important too then the team will at least send an email to their CEO and COO which will often up into a conversation with them regarding the decisions and reason behind it as well. According to Bickert - an ex Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Department of Justice stated that any content that is big enough and it going viral on the platform will eventually gain attention from Mark and Sheryl. After so many reports about a manipulation video going viral Facebook usually limits the distribution of the post.

Facebook has been widely criticized for hosting the streaming of manipulative videos on the platform although some of those videos can’t be seen on the platform anymore. Facebook needs to address a variety of different responses from its social competitors as well. There is a variety of manipulated images of political leaders on the platform that really needs the attention of Facebook moderators.

Social media can be a medium for anyone to manipulate anyone’s image without revealing its real identity. Presidents, high-level Democrats or Celebrities, no one is safe on social networks so to address these issues the involvement from Zuckerberg and Sandberg would definitely be needed. Even though the Facebook executives get involvement but sometimes the big issues can make it difficult to decide what to do or to recommend in order to end the mess created on the platform.

According to the head of global operations of content management, the leadership of Facebook is very deeply involved in all the issues the platform faces and almost on weekly basis a group of people along with Sheryl and Mark sit together to go over most important topics from the week and to check the response on it as well.

Facebook is one of the largest social media platforms with billions of users from all over the world so the involvement from Sheryl and Mark is pretty much needed to address the issues that sometimes the team fails to take a proper decision on. Mark and Sheryl will pretty much continue to show more involvement in the platform's issues in order to help make more informed decisions.
