How the Coronavirus Pandemic Might Help You Reach a Bigger Audience

The fact of the matter is that this coronavirus pandemic might just be the single biggest disaster that humanity is faced in recent history. The reason behind this is that people aren’t just dying, but in fact they are being forced out of their jobs and the economy is shrinking at a rapid pace.

However, with all of that having been said and out of the way, it is important to note that even though this is a crisis and you shouldn’t be trying to profit from it, there are certain things happening that you can try to use to your advantage in some way, shape or form, and since there are in fact quite a few businesses out there that are still trying to earn revenue these are things that could most certainly help them stay on their feet until the crisis has passed.

One thing about this crisis that has become pretty clear is that a lot of businesses are pulling their digital marketing campaigns, according to IAB, 7 in 10 of advertisers "have already adjusted or paused their planned ad spend". Facebook’s CPM has dropped to under $1.5 for the first time in years, and the total number of ads that are being run is at an all time low as well. Paranoia surrounding any kind of terminology that references the current situation that we are in is making brands wary of putting up ads as well, as they would not want their brand associated with anything that might end up seeming untoward in some way, shape or form.

However, it is important to note that while digital ad spending is at an all time low, general social media usage among consumers is at an all time high. People are stuck at home due to widespread lockdowns and quarantines, and when they are stuck at home with not all that much to do, scrolling through social media does tend to be a pretty good option to help you pass the time and make the situation just a little bit easier for you to end up dealing with.

What all of this means is that there is an enormous audience that pretty much nobody is targeting, and with CPMs so low the opportunity is ripe for businesses to start making some headway in this regard. Buying up digital ad space is now going to be more effective than ever before due to the reason that you have such a large audience that you can communicate with, an audience that would be even more receptive because they are not being bombarded with ads in the manner that usually ends up occurring.

Not only is there a lot of potential, this ad space is cheaper than ever before as well. Hence, creating creative and engaging digital marketing campaigns would help brands get a lot more mileage during these times. This might even allow smaller businesses to catch up with larger ones and get access to an audience and consumer base that they may have never been able to access otherwise. These are things that matter and looking into them can be highly useful for you in a lot of different ways. Hence, digital ad buying should be something that operational businesses should consider looking into.
