TikTok Crosses 1.5 Billion Download Mark With Most Number Of Users From India

TikTok a popular short-video making app now has more than 1.5 billion downloads globally, both on Play Store and App Store.

An analytics firm, SensorTower recently published a report, revealing that almost one-third (468 million) of these downloads are from India. At the beginning of this year, one of the reports also disclosed that TikTok was downloaded more than a billion times and a quarter of them belong to India.

According to SensorTower, in 2019 the app was downloaded 614 million times, which is six percent more than number of downloads last year by this time. Last year, the unique downloads noted by the research firm reached almost 655 million in total.

TikTok is the third most downloaded app after Whatsapp with 707.4 million downloads and Messenger with 636.2 million downloads.

The company is bringing many changes all over the world. As currently it is testing a commerce feature that will let add URLs in profile. In October this year, it banned political ads in EU and US and also introduced an e-learning program, EduTok in India.


Following the popularity of the app, Facebook also introduced a similar feature, named Reels, in Instagram Stories of Brazil. Other social media apps are trying to compete with TikTok to surpass its number of downloads but have been unable to come up with anything productive.
