Hide Reply Feature on Twitter Gets Worldwide Rollout

Twitter is a place that is meant to inspire a certain level of conversation among the various people that tend to use the platform, and for the most part it certainly does tend to fulfill this goal. However, the fact of the matter is that there are millions of people that use the micro-blogging network on a regular basis which means that sooner or later someone is going to say something that would be insulting to the user, irrelevant to the conversation that is being had or would in some way be trolling which is usually not the kind of thing that people would want to look into.

Hence, in order to curb the impact that such users have on the conversations that are being had, Twitter is widely rolling out its Hide Reply feature, one that is sure to help a lot of users make the most of the kind of content they are posting on the social media platform. This hide reply feature might be a game changer for Tweeters and it could shape the direction that the platform could end up taking in the coming years.

What this feature will do is that it will give the original author of the tweet to control what replies are visible. It’s important to note that this will not delete any replies from the thread but it would rather hide them from view. You would still be able to see these replies but you would have to intentionally select the option that would enable you to view them.

This has been both praised as well as criticized by a lot of people. The praise is coming from people that are glad they will have more control over the conversations they initiate on Twitter, whereas some people are criticizing it because it might stifle free speech.
