Twitter Lays Off Members Of Its Public Policy Team As Musk Introduces View Counts On Tweets

By now, we bet you’re well aware of the fact that Elon Musk isn’t too happy with Twitter’s public policy.

The new Twitter chief is making some major changes and he’s beginning by firing members who were working for this part of the company.

Despite constant scrutiny taking place across the US and in other places around the globe, we saw several members of the app’s public policy team bid farewell to the firm after they were requested to leave.

For now, it’s not quite clear how many people were removed as a whole but it’s also important to note that those responsible for providing comments to the media are also no longer present.

But insider reports from the organization, including one member of Twitter’s team, did reveal how at least half of the team on Twitter was eliminated.

On the other hand, Twitter is adding another interesting feature for Tweets, as confirmed by Elon Musk. This is called view count and it measures the number of views being added to Twitter.

Musk mentioned how this was normal for video-based content. He similarly added how it really proves how well the app is doing on a usual basis and how alive it is in terms of user engagement.

In case you didn’t know, over 90% of users on the platform end up reading posts. They hardly ever engage with content as users prefer to stay silent and scroll along. You won’t find them liking, sharing, or even commenting on a post. And sometimes, it’s really hard to know if there is any activity or not.

But it appears now there is a solution in the form of public impressions. Twitter is making view counts public so users know how often a particular tweet has been viewed by others.
