Cloud Wars, Google Drive emerges as the most preferred data storage service in a new survey

Isn’t it difficult? To choose a cloud storage service among many of them which are not so different from each other. Especially if you’re planning to run a small business and you want a free service where you can save all your data and not worry about it that much. So you can access your data from almost anywhere. Whether you’re in your country or you’re abroad, all you need is a stable internet connection and your login credentials and boom you’ve accessed your database.

Choosing cloud as your storage method is really satisfying because not only you’re getting your data stored conveniently, but you can get near-unlimited storage, save up some money and you can forget about external problems because that won’t be an issue for you.

But choosing which cloud storage would work best for you is actually difficult. Because it’s not only Google and iCloud, there are many other options available for people to compare and choose from. Now the competition is between Google Drive, iCloud, Dropbox and OneDrive.

DropBox is one of the oldest cloud storage services, it was launched back in 2007. Soon when cloud storage was made available to the public, it was seen that people started to prefer Cloud over any other storage software because let’s face it, who wouldn’t want to access their data from almost everywhere?

Soon after Dropbox, OneDrive was released. As it was only limited to Microsoft users, it didn’t really make its mark in the world as the “Best” Cloud service that was available. Although it had better security updates as compared to DropBox.

Google Drive came into the scene in 2012 when DropBox and OneDrive were gaining users and were making a name for themselves. But google drive with its unique services and free storage, left both of its competitors in awe. Soon Google Drive took over the whole cloud storage market.

So, to make things a bit easier, a survey was conducted by TechRadar through online mediums, where consumers were asked to vote for the cloud services they thought were the best. According to the stats, Google Drive was voted as the most used service as 44% people voted for it, which was followed by iCloud with 31.2%. OneDrive placed 3rd with 11.2% whereas DropBox had only 6.8% votes in its favor.
Most people prefer Google Drive over iCloud because if you're looking to store around 200GB to 2TB, you can store that on iCloud, but if you want to store even more than that, then it’s better to use Google Drive because it offers more storage than iCloud. Security wise they both are almost the same but if you want an excess amount of storage, Google Drive is the one to go for.
