Even after the launch of so many popular social media apps, Facebook and YouTube still remain to be the most widely used platforms

Even though there are so many apps out there that have reached to such brilliant success and are continuing to reach to new heights, but there is no denying the fact that Facebook and YouTube are still the most popular and widely used apps out there. These two apps are the ones that started it all and provided the base of the social media world that exists today. All the other apps that came after that compromised one thing or another that was the replica of either of the two apps. If we compare the two apps then we can clearly see that at the moment or since the past few months, Facebook is slowly but gradually seeing a decline in its users gradually. Over the past few months Facebook has been a part of so many controversies that this decline which the social media platform is seeing these days was bound to happen, don’t take it wrong, Facebook is still most widely used but as compared to YouTube it is seeing a downfall in its number of followers.

Pew Research Center conducted a research to know how Americans use social media platforms and from that they reported that, Facebook and YouTube were the networks that almost took off at the same time, but YouTube is the only platform that is still continuing to grow every day. The share of users on the social media platform can be seen to go form 73 percent of adults in the year 2019 to now 81 percent in the year 2021, while the same cannot be said about Facebook as it share of users has remained unchanged to 69 percent since 2019. According to the report by Pew, Facebook’s growth has remained somewhat the same over the course of five years but in the United States of America it still remains as one of the most widely used social media platforms out there.

The report from Pew also tells that the only platform that was not able to see some drastic change in its number of followers is Reddit whose users share went from 11 percent in the year 2019 to 18 percent in 2021. This may look like a small change but if we look deeper into the results we will see that it is actually really huge. In the data shared on the report it can be seen that the growth on different social media platforms other than Facebook and YouTube has slowed down but that doesn’t mean that the people of the United States are not using social media apps as they used to. According to the report, about 49 percent of the Facebook users check the social media platform at least two to three times a day, similarly 38 percent of Instagram users use the app more than once the day at least and the same goes for the 45 percent of the users of Snapchat.
