Is Pinterest planning to remove Facebook Messenger from its sharing option?

Social media networks competing and copying each other’s top-ranking features is a common protocol of the industry. Whether it’s Instagram going for Snapchat’s Stories or Facebook ripping off Twitter’s Vine by integrating videos – we have seen it all.

However, we sense a new battle heating up as Pinterest may remove Facebook Messenger from its sharing option. This news was revealed by reverse engineering specialist, Jane Manchun Wong on her official Twitter handle.

Although no other description was available with her claim, Twitteratis did respond with exasperation and called it a weird move. One Twitter user also said that this was the start of ‘Social Wars 2020.’

As of this writing, Pinterest has made no official announcement regarding Wong’s findings. So just like any other discovery by Jane, we have to wait for confirmation from the relevant network.

A new feature: In a separate tweet, Jane shared the possibility of a new ‘Story Pin Templates’ that Pinterest is working on – exclusively for Android users. According to her tweet, the updated UI will give users the ability to change layout and color of the captions that they include with their pins.
