Instagram now Allows Users to Add a Profile Shop Link to their Stories!

Instagram never ceases to amaze us. Just when we start to think that we have seen everything on social media, the Facebook-owned media sharing service surprises us. Well, the same has happened today as well!

It’s a known fact that Instagram has been striving to make its platform more supportive of e-commerce and the feature they have rolled out recently might just take them closer to their target.

According to the founder of ClickThroughMarketing, Lachlan Kirkwood, Instagram now allows users to tag the displayed products within their stories. He also attached a couple of screenshots with the relevant tweet to offer more clarity on this development.

As per the provided details, a user can add a swipe-up link to profile shop to their story, through which all of their linked products can be viewed. Like IGTV posts, viewers of the story can also search through the user’s profile content.

For example, if you ever spot a “view shop” link in a story, you can swipe it up and check the products displayed in the story along with their prices.

It seems like the feature has already gone live on Instagram. If you don’t have access to it yet despite of having at least 10,000 followers, ensure that your app is updated to the latest version. Or, it can be that the roll-out process is slow. Either way, the profile shop link has the potential to be a game changer and it will be interesting to see how it gets utilized in the coming months.
