Coming Soon to Instagram: Boomerang Modes, Layout Options for Stories Frames and More!

Instagram has reportedly started working on a new “Layout” option for its Stories feature. The option will allow users to choose from a variety of collages presentation styles to determine how their Stories will look like.

Social media consultant Matt Navarra (who got the word from researcher Satyam Sinha) tweeted about this development. A video was also attached with the tweet that showed six different grid styles for images. As for now, it looks like only still images could be added to any grid.

This isn’t the first time we are hearing about the Layout option. Renowned reverse engineering expert Jane Manchun Wong tweeted about it back in August. It looks like some progressions have been made since then. When it was first spotted, Wong also revealed that Instagram had been working on a number of Boomerang modes such as Classic, Hold, Dynamic and others.

With emerging rumors about the Layout option rolling out soon, it is quite possible that the Boomerang modes aren’t that far away either.

Additionally, the Facebook-owned media sharing service might also be planning a “Shoutouts” option that will allow users to utilize customized templates for anniversary and similar announcements.

The “Shoutouts” option was brought into light by a couple of Instagram users. In the dedicated “Shoutout” field, when a user enters an Instagram username, they get presented with a list of images shared together by them. Then they can choose the appropriate image to include in the update. “Shoutout” might be a part of Instagram’s plan to boost direct engagement.

The launch dates of all the options and features discussed in this story haven’t been determined yet. However, it shouldn’t take long now. Stay tuned for further updates!
