Instagram Impresses while YouTube Disappoints in Terms of Web Referrals!

From introducing exciting features to finding ways to increase user engagement, Instagram has been on a roll recently. Moreover, between Q1 2018 and Q1 2019, its referral growth has gone off the charts.

Merkle recently evaluated the referral growths of well-established Social Media services from Q1 2018 to Q1 2019. The Facebook owned Media sharing service, Instagram was simply on another level as it showed a 114 percent growth. Facebook and Pinterest experienced only a 9 percent growth respectively.

Surprisingly, YouTube’s traffic growth disappointed. Despite of showing signs of improvement last summer, the growth experienced over the entire year was as good as nothing. Twitter’s referral growth experienced an 8 percent decline.

According to the report, 5 percent of all mobile visits and 4 percent of all site visits in the last quarter were courtesy of Social Media referrals.

Instagram has been putting quite a work lately in order to increase user engagement. Recently, it introduced a tap to shop tool. In addition to that, the advertising investment was increased by a whopping 44 percent in Q1 2019.

It’s safe to say that Instagram is currently the most successful site owned by Facebook, in terms of ad investment. The usage rate has also expanded and although it is quite impressive, it shouldn’t come as a surprise, considering Instagram’s ability to lure more users into using the platform.
