Zuckerberg Claims He Is Proud of Progress Made in Disastrous 2018 in New Year’s Post

People tend to argue about a lot of things, but if there is one thing that pretty much everyone out there is going to agree on it is the fact that Facebook had a terrible year in 2018. With all of the data leaks and security flaws and outright data manipulation that Facebook was involved in, with countless incidents occurring over the course of the year from start to finish, it would be understandable if the social media platform was desperately waiting for the New Year for a clean slate.

However, Mark Zuckerberg seems to think that the year wasn’t as bad as all thought. In fact, he posted to Facebook that he was actually proud of the progress that his company has made. The whole thing reads like a tailored message that is designed to give the illusion of doing things the right way. Indeed, Zuckerberg uses all of the keywords that people might be looking for such as change, security and data. Facebook did try to fix things by hiring thousands of employees to work in security and also trying to change the system to design it in such a way that it would protect user privacy in a much more significant manner.

That being said, it’s pretty clear that none of the changes that Facebook made had any real impact. This could either mean that the social media platform is so inept that it was unable to fix the problem in spite of so many drastic measures or it could mean that Facebook wasn’t really trying to solve the problem at all. Either way, Facebook did nothing that Zuckerberg should be proud of, and the fact that he posted this status indicates a disconnect with true public opinion.

According to Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook's horrible year was pretty awesome, actually
