Instagram's New Promote Feature Enables Businesses to Show Ads Through Stories

Instagram is bringing something cool for the advertisers as a new feature "Promote for Stories" is under testing, using which the advertisers will be able to target a specific audience on Instagram, just like Facebook's "Boost" feature, reported by Matt Navarra and TechCrunch.

The Business pages on Instagram will be able to boost their short-timed stories to the targeted audiences. These audiences will be based on location, the similarity with other followers and other targeting parameters by Instagram. Facebook further added that this feature is under testing worldwide but the exact time frame of the launch is not yet confirmed.

On the other side, now users will see a number of advertisements in stories based on their interests and the accounts they have followed. For example, if you have followed a lot of pet accounts, you might see more ads related to pets in Stories.

In the series of these updates, Instagram also announced that IGTV content creators will now be able to share their video's preview to their Story, and this preview will be an image. Instagram hopes that it will boost the traffic to IGTV because an image will create ultimate suspense and the viewers would be heading to view the video.
