Google Might Be Too Late to Stop the AI Tide

The release of Chat GPT has created a lot of seismic shifts in the tech industry because of the fact that this is the sort of thing that could potentially end up rendering many services and products obsolete. Google is not immune to these changes either, with the search engine giant potentially being surpassed by Chat GPT due to its unique interface, and other forms of AI are posing a risk to the company as well.

With all of that having been said and now out of the way, it is important to note that many high level Google executives have been speaking out about the supposed risks of AI. They recently put out an explainer that broke down many of the concerns that they were dealing with.

While Google may have ulterior motives for casting so many doubts on AI, it should be mentioned that it can definitely be risky if it gets into the wrong hands. Students might use it to cheat on exams, and perhaps more nefariously malicious actors can use the chatbot to make their malware more effective than might have been the case otherwise.

There are some filters that have been hardcoded into Chat GPT to prevent it from being used in such a manner, but in spite of the fact that this is the case these restrictions have failed to produce the desired effect. AI is the most innovative and cutting edge form of tech out there, and it needs to be reigned in as it slowly starts to penetrate into the consumer market.

Google might not like the impact that Chat GPT is having on the conversation surrounding AI. After all, the tech company is in the midst of a widespread AI adoption itself, and if anything goes wrong with Chat GPT that might end up inhibiting their own efforts with all things having been considered and taken into account. It remains to be seen if AI will truly end up being as dangerous as Google says it is, but whatever the case may be, it is most definitely here to stay.
