Google confirmed the news recently that it would be providing support to Android phone manufacturers for direct satellite connectivity. Hence, future versions of your device would no longer solely be relying upon cellular connectivity.
The news comes to us thanks to Google’s senior VP Hiroshi Lockheimer who took to his account on Twitter to confirm the statements. He says the tech giant is honored to allow for this collaboration of satellite connectivity for Android’s next version.
As of now, there is no news on when exactly this rollout could be initiated for satellite connections across various devices. However, a new report by 9to5Google says it could very well be seen in Android's upcoming new version which is Android 14.
This form of connection would be requiring compatible hardware. And if that is definitely going to be the way things roll out, then we won’t be seeing the classic Android headsets gaining support for new types of satellite connections.
Meanwhile, we’re pretty sure that tech giants like Samsung might not hesitate to feature it as a part of their flagship models in Android. This entails the popular Galaxy S series.
