WhatsApp Business Works on Improved Multi-Device Functionality

WhatsApp has made a lot of headway since it first started to descend into obsolescence, and one of the features that it incorporated to bridge its gap between its competitors was multi device compatibility. A lot of users were very eager to get this function because of the fact that this is the sort of thing that could potentially end up allowing them to diversify their usage of the messaging app instead of being restricted to smartphone based usage.

With all of that having been said and now out of the way, it is important to note that WhatsApp is currently beta testing a feature that might further improve multi device functionality. This feature will assign names to various devices so that you can see what device a particular message was sent from. Most users would want a feature like this, but in spite of the fact that this is the case it appears that this is only being developed for Business users.

WhatsApp has been trying to entice more ecommerce activity on its messaging platform for quite some time now, and this new feature will be another step on that path. It remains to be seen when this feature will get a wider rollout since it is currently in the beta testing phase for business users alone. However, it will be a boon for business users since it will facilitate internal business communication, and a wider rollout for regular consumers is not entirely out of the question either.

It’s pretty common for businesses to use a single WhatsApp account since this can make things a lot simpler for buyers and customers. Being able to see which devices sent which messages can be helpful since it would enable businesses to monitor performance more accurately.

However, some are concerned about the potential privacy violations that this might entail. Such automated device names suggest that WhatsApp is receiving this data from somewhere, and that is something that a lot of users might not be comfortable with. Business users are a different breed though, and they might be willing to make the exchange.
