Bot Traffic Incurs Millions In Losses for Businesses According to This Report

The rise of the internet has allowed a lot of new businesses to pop up, and it has also provided an opportunity for said businesses to obtain a much more diversified set of revenue streams. However, it has also created its fair share of problems many of which force businesses to incur losses that would make it very difficult for them to remain sustainable because of the fact that this is the sort of thing that could potentially end up limiting their ability to earn a profit.

A new report that was published by Netacea has shown that businesses can end up losing up to 3.6% of their online revenue because of bot traffic and the like. With all of that having been said and now out of the way, it is important to note that this is just the tip of the iceberg as far as this problem is concerned. Another thing to bear in mind about bot traffic and how it can impact businesses is that it can make businesses lose money in various other ways too.

One such way involves altering marketing statistics, thereby making businesses make ill informed decisions that can drain their marketing budgets with all things having been considered and taken into account. Bots can also be used to buy all available goods so that they can be sold at a higher markup, a practice known as price gouging which can make it really difficult for businesses to actually serve their customers.

The main underlying issue of bot traffic is that it is something that can be hard to differentiate from regular traffic. It’s pretty clear that businesses need to do a lot more work if they want to make it so that they can keep their heads above water, and identifying bot traffic will be a big hell as far as those kinds of goals tend to be concerned. Many bots are being used by regular people, so a change in strategy is required so that they can be properly tackled by sending resources to where they are most needed.
