The highest paying state for tech workers is Washington where they earn around $122,640 on average. An interesting thing to note is that tech workers in Wyoming, which is only one state away from Washington, get a little more than half that on average. Wyoming tech workers generally earn somewhere in the region of $67,000 dollars which is a pretty stark contrast, and it is too great of a difference for cost of living adjustments to make all that much sense.
However, regardless of whether or not tech workers earn the same amount in different states, the fact remains that their income is usually significantly higher than what they would have earned through other niches and industries. For example, in Alabama tech workers earn up to 85% more than any other kind of occupation, so even if a worker is getting paid lower than another state they are still probably earning enough to make their career choice more than worthwhile with all things having been considered and taken into account.
Actuaries are the tech workers that get the highest level of income with a national average of over $123,000. If you are thinking of getting into a tech related field, this one might just work out best for you from an income perspective. However, high paying tech jobs are not all that easy to get, and they often only hire highly qualified people who have completed at least 18 years of schooling which basically means a Master’s degree and they usually need to have several years of experience as well to get those jobs.
