Meta’s Messenger is introducing some new effects and features for the holiday season

Meta, formerly known as Facebook, is one of the leading tech giants in the world. The company has been going strong since a long time now and has not only acquired several other applications with its main app Facebook, but also has brought about some amazing features and better updates.

With the holiday season around the corner, the company has introduced some features in collaboration with some brands and creators in accordance with the coming Christmas and New Years’ festivities.

To start off the company has introduced an AR effect in collaboration with Ashley Strong. The new feature will allow people to take pictures with a very snowy effect filter. In this filter users can blink and shiny and sparkly snowflakes will erupt from your eyes. Users can also freeze the screen by releasing a breath.

Not the best of features that depict the actual Christmas feels. However, what we feel like is Messenger has never been great with its features and Snapchat has always taken the game in this forte. Messenger’s feature has always been slower and has some massive glitches from our point of view.

However, there are other things which the app is very proficient in.

The app has come up with a relatively fun way to wish people on several special occasions like birthdays or Hanukahs. With the release of this feature, anybody who wishes their friends or family Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, and Happy Kwanzaa, the app will release a flood of related emoji’s up the messenger screen lifting up the spirits of the celebration and the wish.

Moreover, chat themes related to end of the year and Christmas parties have been launched for both Messenger and Instagram DMs which give people a more holiday vibe while online.

The tech giant is trying to interact and relate with the newer youth with its versatile and changed lingo now and is also releasing a present and Christmas tree emoji in the expressions tray of the app. These two emoji are enlarged and dynamic when sent.

It is also encouraging people to use more of its fund transfer feature by releasing the emoji representing funds transfer. Through its fund transfer app Messenger plans on improving the ecommerce activity on its app.

While this was all for the adult version of Messenger, the company is also releasing some features on its Kids version too.

Messenger for kids will see some new holiday related games, AR effects highlighting the spirits of the holidays and fun chat session with Santa online. However, for the security of the kids, the chat with Santa will also be available to parents.

Messenger may have lost its charm over the years with the release of better socializing and chatting apps, however, the app is trying its best to receive its lost glory back.
