Intel Addresses the Need for Greater Processing Power in the Metaverse

Virtually every major tech company has started talking about the metaverse because of the fact that this is the sort of thing that could potentially end up revolutionizing the manner in which we interact with technology. Intel has now spoken up about the topic as well, focusing on its role in the metaverse and how a massive increase in overall processing power will be required for such things.

While some might think that the metaverse is inevitable, Intel has given them a reality check with all things having been considered and taken into account. The company addressed the fact that current processing speeds are not nearly fast enough to sustain the type of metaverse that some tech companies appear to be trying to go for. According to the company’s report, a thousand fold increase would be required if the metaverse is to operate in the manner in which major companies are trying to go for.

With all of that having been said and now out of the way, it is important to note that this is something that has been obvious to many industry leaders for quite some time now. The metaverse is arguably the biggest endeavor that humans have ever tried to take part in since the creation of the internet since it would facilitate all kinds of things occurring entirely in a digital space rather than in the real world.

All of this might seem purely digital, but it can’t exist without being present to some extent on physical servers and the like. Current servers can’t manage to provide the level of power that would be necessary for it, and it might be a few years before computing innovations are able to catch up to the things that people might need in this regard which could slow the metaverse down quite a bit.
