Twitter Might Get a Downvote Button on Web

Twitter is a social media platform that works a little differently from others in that it provides you with a feed that incorporates content from all of the people that you follow. With all of that having been said and now out of the way, it is important to note that Twitter has been taking a leaf out of Reddit’s book these past couple of years by attempting to offer more of a topic or subject based feed that would be curated based on the preferences of the user in question.

Another feature that was recently noticed on iOS was a downvote button. This is a feature that Twitter was testing out in order to make it so that users could help the algorithm judge what kinds of content they actually wanted to see which is something that would help users determine whether or not a tweet was to their liking as well with all things having been considered and taken into account. This test, as per Jane Manchun Wong, is now being conducted on web as well because of the fact that this is the sort of thing that could potentially end up diversifying its influence.

The thing about this feature is that it would make Twitter even more similar to Reddit, which is something that the social media platform is clearly going to be interested in. Twitter changed its retweet settings as well so that quote retweet numbers would be seen separately, thereby giving users a more accurate indication about whether most users agreed with a tweet or disagreed.

This downvote button will be another way for users to indicate their dislike for something, and it is the latest in a long line of experiments that tech companies are conducting in order to determine how they can help users give their opinions on content without having to type anything out.
