Edward Snowden Speaks Out on the Importance of Encryption

Encryption is widely accepted as a really important way to keep people safe online, but this is coming under threat. Many governments around the world are trying to end encryption in any way that they can because of the fact that this is the sort of thing that could potentially end up making it so that cyber criminals and other malicious actors can roam free thanks to the level of protection that most forms of encryption are capable of providing to them.

With all of that having been said and now out of the way, it is important to note that encryption is something that can be used for malicious purposes, but it can also be used for good. Activists, journalists, political leaders and the like can all use encryption to keep themselves safe, so it might just be a matter of balancing the good with the bad which is usually a really important aspect of looking into these types of things from any perspective at all.

Edward Snowden has spoken out about the importance of encryption, since the whistleblower talked about how the NSA was spying on people regardless of whether or not they were suspected of doing anything wrong at all. Encryption can make it harder for governments to spy on people, and this is major contributor to why they are trying to crack down on it with all things having been considered and taken into account. Snowden referenced the fall of Afghanistan as an example of a situation where encryption managed to keep lots of people safe, and this is something that will benefit the world if it continues to be promoted.

The weakening of encryption is a topic that many governments try to discuss, but that is mostly because they want to find a way to spy on their people rather than for the reasons they actually discuss.
