New Report on Shopify Stores Reveals Over 20% Are Fake or Dangerous

Shopify is a popular platform for people that are trying to find certain items that other online stores might not be able to provide, but with all of that having been said and now out of the way it is important to note that a recent report released by Fakespot after having conducted significant analysis has revealed that out of every 5 Shopify stores you end up going to, at least one is going to be either fraudulent or it would be dangerous in some way, shape or form.

The way that these fake shops work is that they take pictures of products from Amazon and then use them to try and convince potential buyers that they might be able to purchase this item for a price that is far lower than what Amazon might have been offering. The thing that makes these stores a little bit obvious is that they often don’t have names that you can use to identify them, and if you try to purchase something from one of these stores there is a pretty high chance that you wouldn’t receive anything in the mail even though you have already paid for the item in question.

This is a very common scam, and it exemplifies the many issues that Shopify is facing many of which are making it quite difficult for the ecommerce platform to remain competitive in the industry. After all, there’s no point to your platform if the vast majority of buyers out there feel like they aren’t able to trust it, and no legitimate brand would want to be associated with Shopify in the first place if they can’t be sure that people would trust that they would receive their purchased items in a timely manner due to reputational risks associated with Shopify and its collaborators.

An even more common form of this scam has to do with you receiving a product that is nothing like what you thought you were going to get. This often involves you thinking that you are about to purchase a branded or original item only to receive a knock off in the mail.

People keep falling for these scams because of the fact that this is the sort of thing that could potentially end up making them feel like they can get top quality goods that would have otherwise been out of their reach due to the incredible prices that many Shopify stores are currently offering. Don’t fall for these scams, and always remember that if a deal sounds too good to be true then it probably is at least to a certain extent and you will regret having fallen for it.
