Google Photos App Reaches 5 Billion Installs on Play Store

Google’s own apps tend to do really well on the Play Store for obvious reasons. These are essential apps that are being made by arguably the biggest tech company in the world, so it’s understandable that you would want to make sure that you have some of these at your disposal. Ironically, though, many of these apps are specialized versions of services and features that Google had already been offering previously although now the services would be provided at some kind of a fee which would ostensibly be charged so that the product can remain viable for Google in the long term since it is a profit making company at the end of the day.

One of the apps that Google released was Google Photos, and it offered photo backups which is a feature that many Google users relied on. While it wasn’t exactly a popular decision for Google to turn this sort of thing into a paid or even freemium service, with all of that having been said and now out of the way it is important to note that the app has now reached a massive 5 billion installs thereby becoming one of the few apps to manage to reach this milestone.

5 billion installs does not reflect the number of users that this app has at any given point in time, but it does tend to imply that it is a really popular and important app for many of Google’s customers and users. The company does have around a billion active users as of July 2019, which means that it is without a shadow of a doubt one of the most popular services in the world. Google has a number of other apps that have reached this milestone as well which just goes to show how powerful Google is in the world of tech.
