Facebook Capitalizes on Increased VR Interest With New Oculus Quest 2 Headset

The current pandemic that the whole world is going through has created a lot of changes in various industries, and numerous trends have emerged in the field of tech all of which are proving to be quite important if you think about how they might just end up changing the industry in the future. One industry that has started to see a lot more interest is VR, and Facebook has swooped in trying to cash in on this interest with a new Oculus VR headset.

The Quest 2 as it is called is a sequel to the original Oculus Quest headset that became a hot seller for the company when it was initially released. With all of that having been said and out of the way, it is important to note that Facebook is moving beyond gaming with this headset by incorporating social media elements into the mix as well with its new Horizon VR experience. This is essentially a virtual world that you can take part in, one where you would have some kind of an avatar that would most likely be representing who you really are or who you want to be seen as for the most part.

Another major selling point for this new headset has to do with the fact that Facebook has incorporated a few Workplace features into the mix as well. These features are quite unique in the sense that they are taking advantage of the fact that people are working from home, and Facebook is keen on introducing VR as the next step in the social media revolution. Some are wary of this development and are calling it positively dystopian, but others are excited for the possibilities that this new headset, as well as the entire field of VR, holds.
