After Facebook and YouTube, Google Play Store is Also Introducing AutoPlay Videos

Videos are becoming one of the most consumed content type and as the generation Z will finally join the workforce, the use of video for shopping and even to acquire basic information will increase. Most of the users stream online video and this is the reason YouTube and Facebook both have an autoplay option where the user is not required to change the video because the videos play in a loop one after another.

Due to the fame of the autoplay option, Google Play store is bringing this option for the app listing videos. According to a Play Console Help center page, Google is going to launch this new feature by the end of this month, which means that users will be able to experience the autoplay option in late September. All the promotional videos that are available with the app are usually hosted by YouTube so the person looking to install the app can simply play the video and see if it is the same app they are looking for. After the autoplay option, the app listing video will automatically play, once the user opens up the app page. However, Google has yet to explain if the video will be on a silent mode like Facebook, or the user will be required to turn it off manually.
"Beginning September 2019, Google Play will start autoplaying [Google Play] store listing videos to help more users discover content at a glance.", explained Google Support team
As long as the promotional videos are concerned Google has asked that the app owners and developers to remove and disable the monetization on these videos so there are no copyright claims. For this matter, it has been instructed that all the videos must be made monetization free by November first so any complication can be avoided. Specific details about the process and how it will be executed are still missing but experts are hopeful, Google will easily pull this off just like other projects. Moreover, it seems that now all the tech-giants are getting competitive and this is the reason they value user experience. With this environment, these companies are benefiting but users are also benefiting from this constant need for innovation.
