Instagram's new Story Camera UI is Looking Exactly like Snapchat's and it has got Social Media users Talking!

There lies a clear difference between strikingly similar and completely identical. However, Instagram surely tests our intelligence in this regard. Many of the ideas implemented in Instagram are inspired by other Social Networking services (especially the Stories format). Now, it looks like the media sharing service is exploiting the term inspiration, as evident from the new UI being tested.

Renowned Social Media Code Hacker Jane Manchun Wong recently posted a tweet according to which, Instagram is working on a new interface for Story Camera. A screenshot with the proposed new UI was also attached along with the Tweet.

What’s interesting is that the UI itself has not generated much buzz but its striking similarity with its Snapchat counterpart is what has got people talking. The new design has all the functions that one might expect including a recorder, music button, photo clicker etc.

As discussed above, many people have pointed out how this new design change would make Instagram Story Camera’s UI look more like Snapchat’s. However, it should be noted that this wouldn’t be the first time Instagram has copied Snapchat’s features. Disappearing Messages as well as Face Filters in the media sharing service are also courtesy of Evan Spiegel’s creation.

It remains to be seen if and when this new UI gets rolled out publicly. It should be brought up here that Instagram has yet to release the UI which was expected to be up by F8 event earlier this year. So until an official announcement is made, it is better for us to keep our fingers crossed. Stay tuned for any further developments in this story.
