Instagram begins rolling out ‘Suggestions for You’ in Direct Messages

Instagram is starting to roll out ‘suggestions for you’ feature in the user’s direct messaging tab as well. The company confirmed the development to Mashable, where they said that the feature would show all ‘suggested’ accounts in the direct messaging panel beside the Primary News Feed page.

For example, someone sends you a DM with a post from a celebrity account. Scroll down the post and you will see more suggested accounts similar to the one you received.

According to Instagram, the company is working towards enhancing the user’s experience and what better way to improve their time online than interaction with the people and things they love.

Currently, it is not clear how widespread the change will be but we are expecting that the test feature can expand to Facebook’s entire direct messaging platform.

Mark Zuckerberg recently announced the company's aim to integrate all its messaging platforms: Messenger, WhatsApp, and Instagram DM. Due to these intentions, it makes sense that Facebook is adding interactive features to increase engagement on the DMs.

Facebook has also started adding advertisements in Messenger and working on ways to monetize WhatsApp.

As of yet, the ‘suggestions for you’ grid is not sponsored but let’s wait and watch the features Facebook adds in the future.
