Instagram Managed @Shop Account is another Step to Support E-commerce on its Social Network

A new account, @shop has been launched by Instagram, with a dedicated team specifically for it, to curate shoppable posts from the platform.

Talking about the new account, Instagram team said that only trending content will be featured on it. To find what is trending @shop's team and Community Labs’ team will work together and ensure that only popular content is shown on the account.

The account at the time of its launch had less than 15 posts, featuring products of Feel Jeans, The Lip Bar, and Cafune etc. Product tags were available on the posts which took users to the page of that product, where product details, its price, and purchase link could be found easily.

The main purpose of @shop, that is managed by Instagram itself and have originally latest content on it, is to uplift the platform’s e-commerce opportunities .
"@shop is a celebration of small businesses and the creators behind them. The content on this account is inspired by our community of shoppers — you. @shop is a real-time reflection of our community’s interests across top shopping categories like fashion, beauty, home decor and more.", explained IG team.
By increasing the reach of brands, boosting the exposure of creators, Instagram is persuading them to form their own shoppable posts and increase their e-commerce marketplace.

Getting featured on @shop will encourage brands and creators and upsurge their acquaintance on the platform, even if they do not have say in whether they should be featured or not.

However, it is still unsure whether brands listed on Instagram’s Checkout beta will be part of the @shop posts or not. If they do, users will definitely be facilitated as they will be able to shop whatever they like in their feed, directly from Instagram.
