Retail’s Online - Cashless - Social Future [INFOGRAPHIC]
Based on an analysis of more than 1,000 U.S. consumers, The Walker Sands' 2014 Future of Retail Study reveals what shoppers desire in an omnichannel retail experience and how retailers can fulfill customer expectations in 2014 and beyond.
Technology plays a key role in modern consumer preferences. Retailers must balance everything from free shipping to enhanced shoppability and even heightened engagement across social channels. The study reveals that 95% of today's consumers have shopped on Amazon in the last year alone, creating certain expectations on ease, price, and availability, no matter the channel.
It's no wonder that these digitally-savvy consumers want to shop online more frequently in our increasingly cashless society. One in five consumers surveyed say they don't carry any cash, and only 2 in 5 carry more than $20. As this trend continues in the coming years, there's no doubt retailers who push the envelope and exceed customer expectations with new technology will see returns on their investments.
