TikTok Leads Screen Time Cut Searches, Study Shows Rising User Concern Across Major Social Apps

A new study by Media Mister found which apps are the most addictive by analyzing online search volumes for key terms like ‘how to quit doom-scrolling on TikTok’ and ‘how to limit screen time on Instagram’. According to the results, TikTok is the most addictive and time-consuming app, with an average monthly search volume of 2482.50. Some recent studies have found that people spend 58.4 minutes per day on TikTok, and many are searching for ways to quit scrolling on TikTok, turning off screen time on TikTok, etc.

The second most addictive app is Instagram, with an average search volume of 1422.50. All of these searches are queries about how to reduce screen time on Instagram, as the average person spends 30 minutes per day on the app. YouTube has an average search volume of 987.50, which makes it the third most time-consuming app by search volume. The average time spent on YouTube per day is 48.7 minutes. With a search volume of 838.33, Snapchat is crowned as the fourth most time-consuming app, with most people spending 30 minutes of their time on the app every day.

Other most time-consuming apps according to their search volume are Facebook (592.50), X (269.17), Reddit (268.33), and Discord (262.50). The average time spent by people on Facebook every day is 31 minutes, which is 20% less than in 2019, but people are still searching for how to limit their time on the app. The average time spent on X is 34 minutes, followed by 18 minutes per day on Reddit and nine minutes on Discord.
