Google’s Latest Update Features an Automatic Time Zone Option for Travelers

Traveling to a new destination means getting acclimatized to a new time zone.

Today, smartphones don’t have the innate ability to adjust the time zone where you’re present automatically. Yes, you can manually change the settings, but it would be great if everything adjusted automatically.

Thankfully, Google is rolling out a new update for Android users and it’s safe to say that most travelers will love it! Now, you can get off your next flight and be mindful of the latest time zone you’re in. This means no more finding wi-fi or getting location data from your device’s mobile network.

The feature for Android 16 manages to do just that and the data comes to us thanks to some digging and reverse engineering from AndroidAuthority. The information pops up across the Automatic time zone option for Data and Time inside the phone’s settings.

It’s worse if you don’t have access to paid wi-fi connections inside your device. Somewhere along the way, your device picked up another connectivity and it just changed your phone’s time without informing you. That can be a sticky situation.

Through the latest system, you can say hello to phone calls made automatically with alerts that tell the time zone changing and which time zone you might be in. It’s something very small but potentially can help a lot. We certainly look forward to the innovative feature and feel you should too. Nothing can be worse than being hours behind schedule, thanks to your device. What do you think?
