New Study Proves Apple’s Small Developers Outpaced Larger Developers In Growth On The App Store

New research is shedding light on the comparison of developers across Apple’s App Store.

The report comes to us by the Analysis Group which showcased how small-scale developers outpaced the larger ones in terms of growth over the 2020 and 2022 period. And that judgment was made based on the figures of revenue that grew by 71% during this period.

It’s clearly a notion worth mentioning as most small developers had very few resources but despite this, they managed to outperform the rest.

Meanwhile, the study also defined small-scale developers as those who made earnings that were less than $1 million each year and witnessed less than one million downloads each year. As a whole, such a cohort managed to rise in terms of revenue by 71% between the 2020 to 2022 period. As far as the US is concerned, this figure stands currently at 83%.

Some other leading key pointers worth a mention included Apple publishing figures showing how 90% of all developers on this store were small and how 40% of creators that make more than $1 million weren’t allowed on this App Store five years back or were producing less than $10,000.

In the year 2022, thousands of developers were putting out applications on this App Store. And out of those, 25% arose from the likes of Europe while 23% arose from China. 14% hailed from the US and 4% came from Japan. The rest 35% arose from countries like India, South Korea, and Brazil.

Meanwhile, as more and more individuals get active online in the next few years, we are going to see the base of such clients for app developers get bigger with time.

And according to experts at Exploding Topics, there’s still plenty of room for smart devices and apps to achieve further growth. For instance, in places like China, nearly 64% have smartphone devices and this figure is getting lower in destinations like India and Nigeria. More and more people are getting devices in such nations so the revenue for app developers would rise further and what could possibly be better than more growth?

All in all, it’s a job well done by Apple’s small-scale app developers who have pulled through a breakthrough performance, despite all the odds being against them.
