Google Just Made It Way Easier to Control Chrome Extensions

One of the biggest draws that brings users to Google Chrome in droves is the availability of so many browser extensions. They can prove useful because of the fact that this is the sort of thing that could potentially end up allowing you to block ads and do many other things that can improve your online experience. In spite of the fact that this is the case, they can also make websites crash without warning.

With all of that having been said and now out of the way, it is important to note that ad blockers in particular can clash with a site and cause unpredictable behavior. Users can usually work around this by opening a new incognito window, but this can also be rather inconvenient. That’s why Google has been working on a way to make things easier for users, and it turns out that this update is finally making its way to Chrome Canary.

A Chrome researcher recently took to Twitter to reveal a new addition. Essentially, users will now have the option to turn off all of their browser extensions with a single click. That will definitely make things easier than might have been the case otherwise, since users won’t have to toggle each of them off individually.

This also means that users will no longer need to worry about opening tabs in incognito mode with all things having been considered and taken into account. One thing to keep in mind is that you will have to reload the site after switching extensions off, although Chrome is likely going to roll out a prompt reminding you to do so in a future update.

It will be interesting to see what kind of an impact this has on extension usage. Users might notice that some extensions are causing far more problems than they are solving, and this would lead to them avoiding extensions in the near future. Either way, this upgrade will be immensely useful due to how it can streamline the user experience and make it far more convenient in all sorts of ways.
