Quora’s AI Chatbot Just Got its Public Release

AI chatbots are a really hot topic amongst most consumers these days, and a number of major tech corporations are trying to throw their own hats into the ring as well with all things having been considered and taken into account. In spite of the fact that this is the case, not all of these companies have been successful so far.

With all of that having been said and now out of the way, it is important to note that a particular company that no one might have expected just released its own AI chatbot to the public. This company is the forum site known as Quora, and it should be mentioned that they have had their own chatbot named Poe for quite some time now.

Poe, which is short for Platform for Open Exploration, was not available to the general public up until right now. All of that has now changed, with Quora expanding access to the mobile app for this chatbot. While previously it was available on an invite only basis, now anyone can download the app and start using it for whatever it is that they choose.

One thing that bears mentioning here is that Poe will only be available to iOS users for now, although Quora plans to expand it to various other platforms within the span of a few months. Quora has stated that this product is not meant to be an extension of its core service, rather it is supposed to stand alone as something that can be used for a variety of other purposes.

Quora has managed to launch a chatbot at a time when such products are extremely buzzworthy in the market. It should be noted that this chatbot is not all that high in quality, since it is known for providing false information and its datasets are rather dated.

Still, the existence of these chatbots will likely act as a litmus test for the level of demand that such products are going to see in the short term. It will be interesting to see what sort of adoption rate the chatbot ends up seeing.
