Here’s Why Airtags Have Gotten So Popular

Apple has tons of popular products that people use every day, and their AirTags might be the most popular of all. The main purpose for this product was to help users find lost items such as keys that they might have misplaced. Adding an AirTag to an item in your possession can also be useful if it is stolen because of the fact that this is the sort of thing that could potentially end up allowing you to track it down.

With all of that having been said and now out of the way, it is important to note that there is another massive benefit of using AirTags that has recently come to light. Ever since they were released back in 2021, people have been using them on their luggage.

This makes it easier to track lost or misplaced luggage than might have been the case otherwise. Indeed, many airlines have been caught lying when they claim that the luggage is in a particular area only for the owner of the luggage to use their AirTags to track it to the right location,.

Instances where airline employees are trying to steal people’s luggage have also started to come to light. This can be seen in Florida where someone who was working with an airline tried to run off with luggage that was worth around $15,000. They would have gotten away with it too, if it hadn’t been for those pesky AirTags!

Airlines are clearly not happy about AirTags, and the German airline Lufthansa recently tried to ban the items from luggage by claiming that they were dangerous goods. In spite of the fact that this is the case, the airline had to take a bit of a u-turn after pushback from consumers, but they didn’t provide a good reason for that. Instead, they simply walked the statement back as if they had never made it.

One thing that has started to come to light thanks to airtags is how careless airlines can be with your luggage. Some consumers who had just arrived at their destinations and were told that their bags were left behind were able to use the AirTags to learn that they were actually being taken around town. This just goes to show how products like AirTags can bring a bit of openness to all proceedings and enable transparency across the board.

Airlines will definitely dislike the fact that AirTags make it harder for them to cover up their mistakes, but if anything it is the travelers that will benefit from this the most with all things having been considered and taken into account.

Another useful way to take advantage of AirTags is to check to see if your bags are on their way to you yet. Waiting for them at the baggage collection terminal can take ages, and if the bags are still far off you might as well run some errands.

AirTags are clearly seeing a huge uptick in popularity, and we might see Apple’s competitors trying to come up with their own versions of the product as well. It will be interesting to see if this breeds any new product classes that will be essential for frequent travelers.
