WhatsApp Video Calls to Get Picture-in-Picture Mode on iOS

With competition in the instant messaging arena hitting up, WhatsApp has been working overtime to try to add new features that can allow it to hold on to the users it already has and ideally continue its growth rate well into the future. The ability to video call up to 32 people, send call links as well as an easier way to mute people while on call are just some of the many updates that WhatsApp has made to this end.

With all of that having been said and now out of the way, it is important to note that WhatsApp just announced a brand new feature that may be even better for its users. This feature will allow users to make video whilst using the picture in picture setting. Android users have been familiar with this feature for quite some time now, but in spite of the fact that this is the case iOS users have been waiting with no end in sight.

It seems like WhatsApp is finally rolling this feature out to iOS users as well, and that will do a lot to boost functionality for the app with all things having been considered and taken into account. Picture in picture modes have become a popular new addition for apps, such as in the case of YouTube although PiP is only available to premium subscribers on the video streaming platform.

The great thing about picture in picture mode for WhatsApp video calls is that it will be available to all users instead of being put behind a paywall. That will give users more access to than might have been the case otherwise.

The feature is only available for beta testers right now, and it is unknown when it will be released. However, that doesn’t change how exciting this new update will be for WhatsApp users. They will be better able to stay on calls, and if they navigate away their video wouldn’t get frozen. It will be interesting to see what other new updates and features WhatsApp has up its sleeve, and only time will tell what they are.
