Google Takes Steps to Tackle AI Altered Plagiarism

Google’s status as a hub for content slowly started to give way as people noticed high amounts of plagiarism on the SERP. Content creators who knew how to game the system realized that they could use plagiarism strategically, and Google tackled this by cracking down on them whenever possible. In spite of the fact that this is the case, AI has made it a lot easier for such people to commit plagiarism by making some AI oriented tweaks to the content.

With all of that having been said and now out of the way, it is important to note that people working at Google’s search quality team have spoken out about their efforts to limit AI generated plagiarism on the SERP. Google now has algorithms that go after sites that are participating in such conduct because of the fact that this is the sort of thing that could potentially end up improving the overall quality of the search results that people can receive.

The way that AI plagiarism works is that content creators might scrape content from another site and then us AI to modify it to make it distinct on the surface level. That can make genuine websites perform more poorly than might have been the case otherwise, and it can dramatically reduce the quality of information that people can get their hands on by entering search queries into Google’s powerful search engine.

This is a positive step forward with all things having been considered and taken into account. Many content creators have been fearful about how AI might impact their careers and earnings. The news that blogs are now going to be demoted or delisted if they are found to be using such methods will be heartening for all involved.

Google has also created forms that people can fill out to report repeat offenders. This is in the best interests of everyone, save perhaps those who want to manipulate the system for their own ends. Content quality is a major issue, and it’s great that Google is playing its part and doing what it can to hold up its end.
