WhatsApp Will Stop Working On Some iPhones From October 2022 As Company Drops Support For These Apple Devices

WhatsApp has decided to drop its support for two iPhone versions including iOS 10 and iOS 11. The new change will reportedly take effect from October of this year, as revealed by WaBetaInfo.

In case you didn’t know, WaBetaInfo is one of the most reliable sources for news relating to WhatsApp, thanks to its efforts with reverse engineering in deciding these integral factors.

But before hardcore fans of iPhones begin to panic, we’d just like to inform you that it’s only going to be the iPhone 5 & 5C versions that would be facing these mega changes.

Meanwhile, other users that have the modern version of the iPhone will just need to update to an iOS 12 version or a more recent finding if they wish to continue using the app.

As a part of its latest report, WABetaInfo mentioned how iPhone users are now receiving messages that request them to update to a new version if they wish to continue using the same app.

The exact date was delineated to be 24 October 2022, after which the support will cease to exist on the phone versions mentioned. WaBetaInfo also mentioned in the latest post how users simply need to go to the settings option, click general, and then press the Software Update so they can get their hands on the new iOS version.

There are many iPhones that are known to run across recent versions like iOS 12 and beyond, but that doesn’t mean you won’t find users with the older variant either. Similarly, there are so many people out there who are more than happy with older phones that have newer batteries. Hence, they’re least bothered in terms of giving it up.

In the previous year, we saw Apple generate a report that boldly outlined how nearly a billion iPhones were in use currently and those figures are more than likely to go up. Moreover, Statista also mentioned how the usage of the iPhone 5 and 5c made only a small chunk of the sales that had taken place in the year 2019.

Another interesting point worth mentioning in regards to this point is that we saw Apple dropping up support for the iPhone 5 and 5c a few years ago. So that means currently, they’re functioning without any updates, being software-related or security ones.

While we do see millions of iPhones being affected through this new October update, not every single one of them would be an avid WhatsApp user and that could be a blessing in disguise for them.
