WhatsApp’s Latest Update Brings Multi-Language Support

The global nature of WhatsApp’s popularity means that people of a varied range of linguistic backgrounds rely on the app to communicate. Many of these people speak more than one language, and they often switch between languages without realizing it. This is a level of functionality that technology has failed to provide so far, but WhatsApp’s latest update might change that because of the fact that this is the sort of thing that could potentially end up allowing users to set a distinct preferred language for the app.

Many users likely have a language that they use throughout their phone, but it might not be the language that they utilize for regular day to day communications. With all of that having been said and now out of the way, it is important to note that the latest beta that WhatsApp has made available lets them set a separate language if they need to. Users will be able to go into their app settings and select the app language that they prefer.

Having to stick with a system wide default language can reduce functionality for a lot of users, so it’s great that WhatsApp is offering this feature with all things having been considered and taken into account. Only users that are a part of WhatsApp’s beta program would be able to avail this feature, but in spite of the fact that this is the case it is expected that the feature will get a much wider rollout relatively soon because it is definitely going to be a popular update for most WhatsApp users.

Google has been working on a similar change as well, with Android 13 expected to offer multiple language preference options, but WhatsApp managed to beat them to it in this instance. This update might become obsolete whenever Google rolls out their update, but the fact that users get this feature in the app itself could make them more willing to switch from Android to iOS. Still, WhatsApp’s update will come a lot sooner so users would probably be using it more often until Google gets around to their next update.
