WhatsApp is working with full force on its new community tab, and reaction notifications in settings

A big part of Facebook’s methodology over the past few years involved diversifying the features contained by its various intellectual properties and making it so that they are more similar than might have otherwise ended up being the case. Now that Facebook has changed its company name to Meta, it is continuing to do so because of the fact that this is the sort of thing that could potentially end up making their features consistent across all the platforms that are under its ownership.

WhatsApp in particular has started to seem rather distinct from what it once looked like. With all of that having been said and now out of the way, it is important to note that a new beta test that the company is conducting for its Android app has revealed that it might start to roll out a brand new tab in the coming months. This tab will be called a Community Tab and it is the most social media oriented feature that the messaging platform has gotten so far with all things having been considered and taken into account.

While this is not the first social media type feature that WhatsApp has gotten, with that honor going to WhatsApp Stories, it is definitely a sign that WhatsApp will become a lot more like a social media platform rather than just a straight messaging app in the near future. The main purpose of this tab is to create a centralized place for all of the WhatsApp groups that you are currently a an admin for, and this can make it a lot easier for you to stay up to date with what’s going on in these groups.

Getting a list of all your communities can be very useful indeed, and this upcoming feature shows us a bit of a roadmap for what WhatsApp might start looking like after a few more updates are rolled out. It will be very interesting to see how this feature changes. It’s replacing the camera tab on WhatsApp for Android which might be a rather controversial and unpopular change for some people out there.

Other than this, as per WABI, Whatsapp is also testing Reaction Notifications in settings on Android, which shows the messaging app is on the verge to roll out the reaction feature.
