Facebook and Instagram are two platforms that have been working tirelessly to make more influencers post their content on their sites and apps. Instagram’s billion dollar investment into creators that was announced last year was a big part of that, and with all of that having been said and now out of the way it is important to note that quite a few influencers have managed to earn significant income just by posting their content to Instagram Reels which is the platform’s answer to TikTok.
In the initial phases of the program, creators were told that they would get $500 as long as their Reels received 200,000 views within a single month. One thing to note here is that things have changed, with some influencers earning a lot more than others regardless of the numbers of views that they receive.
One influencer talked about receiving $8,500 for his Reels. That might seem like a lot, but the views he got were well into the millions which makes this compensation relatively low when compared to what they might have gotten on YouTube. Another influencer got a bonus of $35,000 for 50 million views in a month, and another creator got the worst deal of the lot with just $800 despite their video getting nearly 2 million views.
Some influencers are able to earn five figures a month just by posting Reels, but the fact that this isn’t consistent means that Meta’s platforms still have a long way to go before they can be as desirable as YouTube which is surprising given how many problems YouTube tends to have.
