Earth to experience Saturn like Rings if the Debris Problem in space isn’t solved

With the advancing times scientists have started realizing how the satellites sent into orbits’ or space craft’s crashing with asteroids create some severe problems for the mother Earth. This because it has been estimated that this causes around 170 million pieces of junk to float into the orbit each year which ranges in sizes, and is harmful for the future of earth.

However, many people don’t understand this. The impacts are large, but Jeff Bezos and Elon Musk have still plans to send thousands of satellites into Orbits in the coming year. According to Samantha Lawler, who is an assistant Professor at the University of Regina, if things remain like this, in the coming years we will see more satellites than stars in the sky.

The diminishing of the stars means that the earth will see severe light pollution and that in the coming years the natural sky will see an increase in brightness, meaning the night sky will become darker.

However, that isn’t of our concern right now because bigger problems are at hand. This is because if the space junk begins to increase at the rate it is right now, we soon will be seeing a massive change in the Earth’s appearance and shape with a Saturn like rings around the Earth.

However, unlike Saturn’s natural ring, the Earth will have a debris ring around it which will be an outcome of years of sending junk out in space as a removal strategy. However, the current impacts show that nobody stopped to think that what will happen in the long run with this ‘send the waste into space’ idea.

Now scientists are working on strategies to overcome this problem and remove the debris surrounding the Earth. The first strategy was to send robots out in space to remove the waste. However the idea now seems impractical thinking if a robot gets damaged it will only add to the waste in the space. Hence, ideas to use a magnet to attract the waste are being used to catch and clean it around the Earth. Small tests are being performed on it, but we don’t know what will happen in the longer run and how scientists will overcome this problem and even if they will be able to do it.
