A quarter-million US residents have no access to the internet, every 1 of 4 is out of the internet in southern states

According to a report published in August, the proceeding year revealed that a quarter-million US households do not have internet access.

We are living in the 21st century and still, 27.6 million homes in the USA do not own home internet.

Surprisingly, the number of households without internet is more than the total number of households in thirteen states aggregately.

These houses without internet access predominantly belong to the Southern states, including Alabama, Mississippi, and Arkansas state possess the least rates.

To demonstrate in figures approximately 22.5 percent of aggregate homes in America, that is 27.6 million homes possess no internet connections.

They embrace some other ways or public Wifi to step into the digital world, pondering that a day in today's life is spent primarily on the digital platforms.

Furthermore, shockingly, 265331 houses, which is over a quarter million, still rely on dial-up internet sources.

Moreover, the report uncovered that States like California, Utah, and Colorado are progressing on the improvement and advancement and so, these states have an elevated percentage of homes with a home internet connection.

However, the people of Mississippi, Alabama, and Arkansas, the southern states are compelled to urge an alternative internet connection or any substitute since they have the least percentage of households without a home internet connection.

The reasons that can be considered for this huge progression gap could be the massive rural population and a high poverty rate.

Since these states carry a greater rural poverty ratio than the nationwide average of fifteen point three percent.

Another reason could be that, broadband is a private sector industry, so intrinsically, internet service providers compel to retain their bottom line, when they execute a scheme or infrastructure expansion.

There is a slight inducement that stimulates a firm to broaden or boost its infrastructure in those areas where there is a high poverty rate with less population.

Presently, the individuals who are getting the most affected because of the absence of home internet are either students or adults.

An advocacy union and an associate of the American association of retired persons noted that every 2 in 5 seniors aren't able to have internet access.

And Edweek asserts that nine to twelve million students do yet not have any internet source that aids in remote learning at home in a pandemic.

As President Joe Biden, earlier this year in an address to Congress, acknowledged that thirty-five percent population of rural areas still do not have internet access.

The report itself claims that rural America also confronts impediments to get high-speed internet.
