New report shows the most used social media apps among US consumers during the year 2021

Social media platforms have become an important part of our lives and if we talk about US citizens they have the highest rates of social media usage especially during the COVID-19 pandemic when the people were forced to stay at home. During the pandemic situation, about 246 million US citizens were using different social media platforms for their entertainment and connecting with their friends and family. There is no doubt that social media platforms give us entertainment, and help us connect with many people and friends, but it has many drawbacks as well, just like many people post fake news and some people try to bully, troll, and harass others that can become a source of depression for many people.

Many citizens of the US have security concerns while using Facebook, but still, this app has secured the top ranking in the most used app in the region during the year 2021. Not only Facebook, but its owned social media app Instagram has gained much popularity in Americans due to its Reels content and many other features. Instagram has become the second most used social media app in the US. The survey conducted by SatelliteInternet reveals that almost 86% of the US citizens use Facebook which is almost double the percentage when compared with TikTok, Whatsapp and Pinterest.

About 72% of Americans like to use Instagram especially during quarantine situation; people like to share stories, Reels, and pictures with their friends. YouTube has a 66% adoption rate where many people have started streaming on this platform. Twitter is one of the biggest micro-blogging platforms with more than 350 million monthly active users; however, the percentage of its usage in the US is 58%. Snapchat is much popular among youngsters and its usage is about 46%. WhatsApp has 45%, while LinkedIn and Pinterest have 41% of usage, TikTok is also most platforms in the world but it has not become that much popular in the US due to privacy concerns, therefore, its percentage usage is 40%, while Reddit and Clubhouse have the percentage of 31% and 13%.

Facebook has also ranked first in the list to have a positive impact on the mental health of Americans and many people learn different kinds of stuff on this platform as well. The report has also shown some interesting facts that Facebook has also the highest percentage in negatively impacting the mood of the citizens of the US due to fake news, privacy issues, and trolling stuff. Many people also think that they are wasting their time using this platform. Many people also have negative sentiments while using the Facebook-owned app Instagram. However, YouTube has spread the highest positivity rate among the people of the US due to the reasons that people many people have started their career on this platform and learned a lot of different stuff like vlogging, cooking, training, etc.

Many people also think that TikTok put a negative effect on their physical and mental health and 43% of the citizens want to delete this app permanently. Twitter also increases the amount of apprehension and downheartedness among the people. About 65% of Facebook users in the US think that Facebook is a time-wasting app and therefore, they want to delete this app too. Instagram is the second most time taking app according to 43% of users.
