Apple’s misleading water resistance claims for its iPhones made it pay a fine worth: $12 million

The brand “Apple” is quite famous in the world of technology. It competes with all other huge companies such as Samsuung, Amazon, Facebook, Google, and Microsoft. It came into being on 1st April 1976 two college graduates named Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak. Rolling out new iPhones and iOS updates; every year has earned millions in sales.

However, unfortunately, Apple’s aim of bringing innovative features to its models coming every year to allow the customers experience; their best has made Apple make fake claims. An Italian company named Autorita Garante Della Concorrenza e del Mercato or AGCM is a non-governmental firm that keeps a check on whether the companies treat their competitors and customers justly or not.

On Monday; this Italian company charged Apple €10 million ($12 million) fine for misleading its customers through making false claims of how water resistant its iPhones are. The Italian company held a conference; saying that it fined Apple for two factors. Firstly, iPhones don’t pay off for the promises Apple has claimed. The company says that its claims of water-resistant mobiles under 30 minutes is true for controlled factors in a laboratory; where the water is pure. Whereas Apple guarantees 3 and 13 feet; 1 and 4 meters depth water-resistance of its iPhone models starting from iPhone 8 till iPhone 11. Apple was accused of misguiding regarding its mobile features and specifications to the customers.

Secondly, the Italian company held Apple responsible for being aggressive to not assist its customers in repairing mobiles which were water affected. However, the iOS company warned its customers; not to keep their water-resistant mobiles with them while swimming and bathing. It further informed that customers reporting such problems regarding their mobiles malfunctioning due to water-related problems and requesting for help won’t be entertained.

It is reported that this is not the first time company has violated the country’s rules for its promotional practices. Rather in 2017, another company of Italy fined an amount of €15 million together to Apple and its competitor: Samsung for enforcing updates to their mobiles. It led them to slow down and even break. Additionally, Apple has also been held responsible to European Countries; resulting in it paying them a fine in billions.

Hearing such a piece of news about Apple’s actual truth for many years might lead a number of its customers to trust other reliable companies in the market. Additionally, no solid proofs and logicless excuses by Apple have an expectation of a reduction in its revenue and profit generation to a greater extent shortly.
