Google Introduces the People Cards Feature in India That Allows Users to Create Virtual Visiting Card

On Tuesday, Google introduced a new Search feature for users in India that allows influencers, freelancers, or business owners to create virtual visiting cards. Called the People Cards feature, it allows users to highlight their website or other information that they want others to see when searching for their names on Google Search.

With this feature, anyone with a Google account can create a virtual business card or a short bio about themselves which can be discovered on Google Search. The company announced this feature on India blog, and it is currently available only in India. When users in India will search for someone on Google Search using a mobile, they will now see a module with the name of the person, profession, as well as the location of that person.

Tapping on a module will display users the visiting card of that person which will include extra information about that person. Google Search Product Manager, Lauren Clark, stated in a blog post that for millions of business owners, influencers, self-employed people, freelancers, or anyone else who wants to be discovered online, this new People Cards feature will help the world find those individuals.

Google said that the feature is rolled out to users in India, the second-largest internet market in the world, because of the special affinity people in India have shown toward looking up their names on Google Search, and the feature currently supports only one language- English.

If you want to create a new people card, you will need to sign in with your Google Account. Now, go to the search bar and type ‘add me to search’ or your name, and you will see a prompt. Tap on that prompt, and you can now start creating your people card. When you will tap on ‘Add yourself to Google,’ you will be asked for your mobile number so Google can send you a six-digit confirmation code.

After the verification process is complete, you can add details about yourself such as a brief bio, your profession, and location, etc. You can also add links to your websites and social networking profiles. Finally, you can view your people card that Google will display in Search. Google requires you to verify using your mobile number to help maintain the quality of information on People Cards. Moreover, only one people card is allowed per Google account, and you can also delete your people card at any time.
