Fiverr is a platform that allows you to sell a service to people for a fee, and usually this involves things like graphic design, writing as well as music production. However, the fact of the matter is that a lot of scammers are going to Fiverr and offering all kinds of dubious services. Many of these people are offering buyers the chance to be protected from the coronavirus through some kind of prayer or other form of spirituality, something that obviously wouldn’t help them but they might just be desperate enough to fall for this sort of thing all in all.
Other scammers are attempting to sell masks that they claim to have sourced from China or other countries, claiming that these masks are better than others at stopping you from contracting the virus even though nothing of the sort is actually true all in all. Fiverr is attempting to address the problem but a lot of people have already been scammed.
"At these sensitive times, we are cautious regarding all COVID-19 related services and we continue to actively monitor the site to catch and remove any services that may get through our filters.", a spokesperson from Fiverr informed Vice.It is important to note that Fiverr is far from the only platform that has been beset by such issues. Many other platforms are also struggling with this sort of thing, with Etsy being one of the more prominent ones to have faced such issues. More proactive effort needs to be put into taking platforms away from such scammers.
