Better late than never, WhatsApp adds the awaited feature to start group calls from groups

It was the year 2018 when WhatsApp finally added the long-awaited feature of group video and voice calls. Although the other social media companies announced the video calling feature earlier but ‘better late than never’. To start a group video or voice call, the user needs to call one person as usual and then add more participants to the call by tapping on the top right corner of the ongoing call and selecting the ‘add participants ’ option. The users had an obligation that why they can’t directly call from the groups like they do on other popular social applications so to simplify the process, WhatsApp, on Tuesday, announced a new feature. Rather than going through two steps as discussed earlier, the user can simply tap the video or voice option in the group on the top right corner to start the group call directly. However the group calling feature is yet limited to 4 members (that you've added as contacts) in any group.

On April, 7th 2020 WhatsApp tweeted that they've "made it easier than ever to start a group call from WhatsApp for groups of 4 or less. From your group chat, tap the video or voice call icon to directly start a call with everyone in the chat!”

Similarity, WhatsApp addressed another concern by adding a feature through which makes it harder to forward viral messages to others. We often see messages that address a large audience by telling them to further forward the respective message to more people. These messages often spread fake news, misinformation and are annoying sometimes. So WhatsApp looked forward to the issue and from now onward these messages will be marked as “highly forwarded”, and could only be forwarded to one person. This will not only stop the annoying forwarded messages but would also stop the fake news such as false COVID-19 claims, lottery and gold scams that were spreading these days.

You can download the updated WhatsApp from both Google’s play store and Apple’s app store.
