Facebook experiments with cross-platform of Stories

Facebook tests out a new cross-platform feature that will allow users to share Facebook Stories on Instagram. However, the tool would not give users the ability to share the other way around – from Instagram to Facebook.

The latest discovery was shared by reverse engineering expert Jane Manchun Wong on her Twitter account. According to the screenshot she posted, a new tool would be available in the Story Privacy Section that would give users the option to ‘share their story on Instagram.’

The company has also confirmed these findings and said that the feature is currently in test mode. And if the testing is successful, the company would roll out the feature for the public really soon.

The representative of Facebook further explained that their flagship app and Instagram have different audiences. And through this feature, the users can share their Stories with both the audience in a simultaneous manner.

The Stories feature on both – Facebook and Instagram is very popular with the audience. The social media network also continues to explore new options to simplify the feature and make it more appealing to its user base.

However, Facebook has not yet explained how the cross-platform method would prevent people from watching the same posts on both platforms.

Facebook is also planning to allow cross-platform of messages on all its entities including Messenger, WhatsApp, and Instagram Direct. The company is said to be working on the feature since last year.
